Dr. Lefurgy Named 2026 Teacher of the Year

The end of the academic year brought accolades not only for our students but for our faculty as well. Associate Chair Dr. Scott Lefurgy was named the 2026 Teacher of the Year for the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics division of the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dr. Lefurgy has been a dedicated member of the department faculty since 2011, helping to shape countless student minds and inspire creativity through much-anticipated events like Biochemistry Song Day.
As noted by Provost Riordan, “The Teachers of the Year awards are hallmark recognition of faculty excellence because the awards are determined by our students, reflecting the impact and deep connections these faculty members have made.” This award is truly a testament to Dr. Lefurgy’s abilities and impact as an educator.
